Also known as the Rapid Dip Panel, Drugs of Abuse screening service, the Non-DOT Quick Drug Screening service is designed for those employers who are not regulated by the strict requirements of the United States Department of Transportation’s Guidelines for Urine Specimen Collection. While our technicians do conduct our tests to mirror the control procedures of a standard DOT drug test, private employers do not need to have all screenings conducted by a laboratory. This means that employers with a Drug Free Workplace policy can screen employees and prospective employees for substance abuse with a Rapid Dip Panel with results in five minutes of testing. Any non-negative results will still need to be sent to a laboratory to be confirmed and reviewed by a Medical Review Officer (MRO) when applicable.
What are my options as an employer?
Employers can choose a standard 6-panel or a more in-depth 11-panel screening test.
Our 6 panel drug screen tests for:
- Cannabis (Marijuana)
Our 11 panel drug screen tests for:
- Cannabis (Marijuana)
What should I bring?
Employees selected for screening should bring photo-identification. Either an employee ID badge or a government-issued photo identification. They should also bring all necessary forms as provided by the Employer’s Designated Employer Representative (DER) including the DER’s Custody and Control Form if available. If the DER does not have a form, one may be provided.
What should I expect?
Both the collector and the employee must follow strict procedural guidelines to ensure the safety and validity of the screen. Pay close attention to the instructions provided by our representatives and your visit will be quick and stress-free.
In a standard Rapid Dip Panel collection, you will be asked to provide identification, verify personal information, and to select a specimen collection container. You will then be instructed to enter the designated restroom and fill the container to the minimum level without flushing or washing your hands. You will then return to the representative with the collection container. Results are read after five minutes. If the result is negative for all panels you will take your copy of the Custody and Control Form and are free to leave. If the result is non-negative, the specimen must be sent to the laboratory for confirmation. You will initial the container to verify that it belongs to you. Once complete, you will be provided with a copy of the Custody and Control form; you may be contacted by the MRO, so it may be a good idea to write down any current medications on the reverse copy of your Custody and Control Form to jog your memory in that event.  If you are (or your employee is) on medications that appears on the screening as a non-negative result for substance abuse, a Medical Review Officer (MRO) will review your results on a case-by-case basis to determine whether abuse of a substance or substances has occurred.
Will I get the results the same day?
All negative results from the quick screen are same-day. If a non-negative result is read by the collector then the specimen must be sent to a laboratory for confirmation. A laboratory confirmation may take between three and five business days.
