Florida LiveScan Service Provider Binary Biometrics Helps Massage Therapists Comply with Amendment to F.S. 480.041, Requiring all Florida Massage Therapists to be Fingerprinted

As a leading FBI and FDLE approved LiveScan Service Provider, Binary Biometrics has prepared for an influx of new business as a result of a recent Florida statute amendment called F.S. 480.041. The statute requires that all massage therapists be fingerprinted for background screening. Any massage therapist licensed prior to July 1, 2014 will have only until January 31, 2015 to comply with the new statute. New licenses and renewals after the first of July will now require level two background screening as a mandatory requirement.

This requirement is for new licenses, renewals and practice management personal.  The first year numbers for massage therapist submissions is estimated at 63,878 and 5,896 in subsequent years.

The following is an excerpt from the 480.041, F.S.:

“The bill amends s. 480.041, F.S., to require applicants for initial licensure or renewal licensure as a massage therapist to submit to background screening. The bill provides that massage therapists licensed before July 1, 2014, must submit to background screening by January 31, 2015. Further, the bill requires the Board to deny applications for licensure if the applicant has been found guilty of, or entered a plea to, any of the criminal offenses enumerated above.”

James Timothy White, Founder of Binary Biometrics recently announced that, “We are very pleased to offer this service to all massage therapists in the State of Florida in addition to our out of state and out of country card scanning for those massage therapists who do not reside in Florida, but wish to be licensed or continue to be licensed here. Binary Biometrics has quickly made a name for itself as a mobile background screening service provider for professionals in the State of Florida since commencing its services officially in early 2013.
